Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

bike opinion Trek 1000

I found a Trek 1000 for a good price. The picture shows an original fork but it looks more vertical than many other bikes I've seen. Is this bike known for being twitchy? or is the picture just misleading, or perhaps angle of fork isn't really a concern. I'm hoping this bike will be good for general road fun, 60 miles or less, and my commuting next year. I plan to add a rear rack to it.

The fork isn't vertical, the stem is high. You can lower it. $200 is pretty good.

Larger size frames usually have a steeper headtube angle to quicken the steering of what would otherwise be a slow steering bike with a large wheelbase.

$200 sounds pretty good.
