Specialized Mondo Pro - help!
Hi bunch! I just bought a set of 2008 Specialized Mondo Pro tires from my bike shop because of their glowing recommendations but I have found a slew of reports that say that they separate and cause blowouts. I did a quick search and found a member who crashed on a fast descent because the tire blew out.
Has this problem been fixed? Should I ditch the pair for a set of PR3's or GP4000's? I am using the tires for training and racing. Thanks!

I have a pair on my tarmac that came on it. I haven't had a blowout yet, but they aren't my favorite. Seem to punture rather easily compared to the 4000s and gatorksins I am use to riding on. Once these wear out I plan on going back to 4000s.

I've had good luck with my set so far, no problems to speak of (knock on wood) and I have about 1,100 miles on them. That said, I'm definitely interested in giving some different tires a try to see how they compare. The GP4000s and PR3's are on the short list. Tempted to try the armadillos and gatorskins though too, as I hate changing flats.

they're not great tyres anyway ( https://www.biketechreview.com/tires/...sting_rev7.pdf ) so, if you're worried, use them on the back and get a 'good' tyre for the front. The Mondo tubular rates about the same as a Pro Race, but the Mondo Clincher rates kinda slow, at 17.7 watts of resistance
For what it's worth, I've had 3 or 4 of them over the years without any problem, but they stretched a lot, well before they wore out, and they went 'out of round', so much so that I couldn't get them to seat properly on the rim, making a big bump in one spot and a dip in another.
