Keo vs. Keo Elle?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Keo vs. Keo Elle?

Is it just the color or is there a functional difference?

I believe the only difference - besides color - is the Elle requires less force to get in and out of as there are lower minimum and maximums on the tension you can set.

Thanks, that's enough reason for me. I don't want to accidentally clip out of my pedals (watched a teammate do that once) so the higher I can go, the better. Maybe I should just look into getting the Sprints.

I think the Elle's are for women..or girly men riders. I have the Sprints and love 'em! Tension setting range is the same as the Sprints...

I guess also if you have a powder blue ride...they would match?

Description:

These light, sleek KeO Elle pedals have the same characteristics as the KeO Sprint, but, in powder blue, they're intended for the female rider.
Specially engineered bearings produce reliability and precision in a small space
Spring adjustment allows you to customize release tension from 9 - 15nm
Bi-component, compact cleats retain an extra large platform and are easy to enter and exit
Cleat material combination reduces the likelihood of squeaking over time
Patented cleat-position memory lets you replace cleat and have the replacement assume exactly the same position as the first

OK I got off my lazy @$$ and looked them up on Nashbar:

Keo Classic: 8-12nm
Keo Sprint: 9-15nm
Keo Elle: 9-15nm

Since the Elle's always seem to be on sale and have the same tension as the Sprint, I might just go with them. I'll be a girly man if it means saving a few bucks. Pluss powder blue might actually look good on my white/blue bike with my multi-tone blue team kit.

If you go to the look website, they list the Elle at 8-12nm. The Classics and the sprints are listed at 9-15nm. Still, 12nm is probably more the sufficient to keep you from accidentally unclipping.

This is right. My Fiance has the Elle and I have the Sprints. The Elle does indeed have lower release tension.

Is there any differences with the higher carbon and carbon ti models besides a little bit of weight?

They have the same tension range as the Sprint. Besides that, no.

I've got the Sprints, and I have to have them set as loose as they'll or I cannot clip in (obviously I do not know the ease of unclipping). That's even jumping up and down on the pedals when the bike is on a trainer. I'm female, but I don't consider myself especially weak or little. I still love the Sprints and have yet to accidentally unclip. Mine are gray, although powder blue could look hot on my '06 Gerolsteiner bike. Still, gray goes with my gray cranks.

There doesn't seem to be any functional difference in the higher end models from what I could tell. Just weight.

I've found 2 Elle pedals online. Classic Elle and Sprint Elle. Same specs as regular Classic and Sprint, just made to match the Look 585 Elle bike.

Also looks like new ones are coming with the grip cleats if that matters.

For the record and for searchers, I have a pair of the Keo Elle Sprints, and on the box they say release tension of 9-15nm, same as the "men's" Sprints.

I haven't ridden any other road pedals so I can't suggest that their copy is contrary to the actual functionality, but I'm betting on color difference only, at least for the ones that I've just received.

Just FYI, my Elle's are not powder blue. They're black and white with some very frilly purplish accents, but it's nothing too outrageous.
