"Wrong move?" It's a business. After the peak of Cervelo's success at market exposure thanks to CSC's TdF win. Cervelo doesn't see the benefit of being an equipment supplier while fronting the cost to become a subsidiary sponsor under Saxo Bank. People who think otherwise are likely Cervelo owners justifying the CSC logo on their bike. Cervelo ate their cookies and moved on.
If Specialized does pick up the tab plus equipment, those b@stards have way too much money to burn, they are already sponsoring QSI.

Anyways I would have had to order a Saxo Bank sticker for next year

Not saying that Cervelos make a difference, but if Saxo Bank doesn't do as welll next year it looks good for them.

I mean, who cares in reality, I'll still be trying out the Cervelo SLT next spring to potentially buy, but if it fits like crap I'm not going to get it just because Fabian rides it. I mean honestly anyone who thinks team CSC's performance has been heavily related to Cervelo's aerodynamic bikes is beyond a sucker.
Sometimes I think Cervelo over-embraces their nerdery at times, assuming that the entire bike community are as big tech nerds as they are. It sure ain't Fabian's Cervelo that blows peoples mind when he solo's away for a win in a finishing sprint.

Yah man, pointing out spelling errors definitely soothes my insecurities! Who am I to expect someone to spell a countries name right when they're questioning the quality of their export.

think about how many team have been sponsored by colnago or pinarello. who cares what team (if any) rides cervelo, and who cares what bikes csc rides.

Not quality in a negative light, just showing that without the fame and reputation gained by csc they are just another small company selling bikes imported from china and taiwan. The allure is gone.

It sounds to me like Team CSC may have upped the ante for sponsors. Maybe Cervelo couldn't financially afford to sponsor them after the TDF win. Let's face it Cervelo doesn't exactly have pockets as deep as say Specialized or Trek. Bidness is bidness as they say.

i'd take a long list of italian and french frames before any specialized, cannondale, cervelo, or trek.

I didn't buy my Cervelo because of what team rides them. There aren't too many of them where I live, either. I was drawn to my LBS because I did some (nerdy) research and read a bunch of reviews, and then test rode the bike I would eventually own. I could care less where it's made or how many Freds in other cities are seen riding them....I absolutely love my Cervelo RS, and it's done one hell of a job helping to get me back into a sport I left in pain 18 years ago.
As for the Saxo-Cervelo split, it sounds to me more like it was Riis' call and not Cervelo's (ie. unilateral). I'm sure there's a lot behind the scenes that we don't know as well.

My understanding is that it was the other way around, that Specialized basically paid off CSC/SaxoBank/Whatever to switch, just like they did with QuickStep and Time.

Well all I know is that if/when I get my Cervelo the firs thing I'd be peeling off is the CSC stickers and Fabian sticker...or whatever winds up being on there. I'm not celebrating anyone elses victories with my pocket book.

It's kinda funny I never wear clothing with logos, I have all my logos on my cameras taped up, and my musicial equipment for the most part has no logos...yet I love the logos on bikes...don't get it.

But surely, by the time you've gotten your Cervelo, you would already have paid for all the stickers anyway?
They won't give you money back if you take the stickers off. It doesn't work that way (although it should!).

Why is everybody so sure that Cervelo dropped Riis? I was under the impression that Riis dropped Cervelo. Anyway, the stickers are made to come off.

And most of those Italian and French frames would be made in Taiwan or China, just like the ones you dislike. Especially if you're talking carbon fiber models.
