Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Price for a C-Dale R300 Frame?

I have a lead on a mid-90's C-dale R300 frame with cranks. Looks to be in very good condition with the usually paint rub/loss on the drop outs from the quick release and nothing else. The guy is asking $80, is this a good deal? I was thinking about putting my fixie/SS stuff on it till I can find the right brifter components for it.

Thanks!

If it is not cracked and looks in good shape, I'd offer $50 and see if he counters.

$80 seems a little high. I'd only consider it if the fork is included. Either way, this will be a very stiff bike as the fork in the 95 bike is aluminum, not sure about the 96. I like the $50 previousl stated.
EDIT: You know this bike does NOT have horizontal drop-outs, so I don't think a fixie is going to work, only a SS.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow for $60. The fork doesn't bother me as I'm going to put a carbon one on. Also, I was hoping to find the 'magic' gear ratio to run my SS setup till I buy the rest of the components. If I can't find the right ratio, it will just hasten my purchases...
