Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help me Pimp my Ride

I currently have a windsor leeds, which is basically the windsor wellington 3.0 on BD (no comments please, I am going for a new bike around december/january).
https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...ellington3.htm

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/bik/837428374.html That isn't mine, but that post gives it a more real life look.

I'll be honest its a crappy looking bike (although it does look better in real life and with the bars flipped, but not by much). I am mainly looking to spice it up (color scheme). Maybe some new bar tape, a colored sidewall, colored cages, etc. Was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Anyone have a similar windsor and changed it from the stock setup?

if you still have your shifters so high up on the bars, change that, if you still have the saddle toss it and get something else and ditch the toe clips. Get some Continental Gatorskins for your next tire purchase, and whatever bar tape you want, except black looks terrible on that thing...

but saddle+bar tape+new tires+shoes and clipless pedals will cost more than the bike, your doing better than me, just my shoes alone cost more than what I can get for my bike right now.

Get matching tires and bar tape in some bold colour.

And seat if you can find one with the right colour.

Thomson seatpost (no set back) and Thomson stem - both in silver. Double crank, carbon - maybe something Campy (will work with all drive trains and the 10 spd stuff is really cheap right now)

Actually, on second thought and in keeping with the silver theme, maybe a campy alloy crank. Or Dura Ace if you can afford it.

I've been riding for 3 years, and have atleast 15,000 miles on the bike. Trust me, I've already made the transition to clipless. I wasn't inquiring to necessarily upgrades (would be pointless because in 3 months this will just be used for wet riding, and whenever else a backup bike is needed), mainly a color scheme. Thanks.

As previously mentioned I already am. But I thought it would be nice to have a backup with an interesting color-scheme. Rather then boring grey and black.

What about a red/black/silver scheme? Red bar tape, red saddle, red cages, and red tires? I am mainly just deciding what that "third subtle color" should be. I was also considering blue. I just don't want something that looks completely ridiculous.

I never go stock on any bike. All these components can go to another frame - well, the seat post might not fit a different frame but other than that...

After riding this god for saken thing for a couple years, I am glad I won't have to be using these parts regularly. I hate sora everything, I absolutely hate it with a passion. The handle bars are poorly designed, the seat is even worse...don't even get me started with the cranks...what does that leave me with? Oh yeah, the fork is really flexy, and the bottom bracket is as flexy as a rubber band. Great pair of training wheels though, they hold there true forever.
