Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I noticed that the Park repair stands disappeared on the same day they started a 15% off sale on the site. For what that's worth.

So do speedplay pedals and other manufacturers who have tight restriction on the price their gear sell for.

Performance is like Home Depot: they only sell the top quality name brands until they can figure out how much of a given product they move. Then, they start replacing it with lesser quality/similarly priced stuff they can manufacture themselves.

See "Spin Doctor" tools...

yech.

Absolute garbage. Hard to sell, in fact, if you've got them good Park tools lying around the shop...

Some yes, some no. How bad can a pedal wrench be? Cable cutters and chain breakers, on the other hand....

Performance removes items that have strict pricing agreements from the manufacturer when they put blanket discounts and sales out there. Park and Speedplay are two prime examples of this in action. Both will disappear from the site when sales like their 20% off sales come out.

Sometimes they are slow to remove them....I was able to get some pedals pretty cheap when that happened.....

nice call. I was going to order a tensiometer last night, but they were gone so I assumed I was the one who was being silly, but I see that they are back on today. Weird

Now can someone explain why Fuji bikes are _never_ on the site? It would be nice to know whether a price in the monthly mailer ad is the usual price, or a sale price, or what.

Most likely the same reason many bikes can not be purchased "officially" online - the LBSs distribution agreement most likely does not allow that type of advertisement or sale.

Scattatatatantate frames are "house brand" so they can set their own policies...

I think this is relatively new for Park tools as I purchased a couple torque wrenches during the last 20% off sale. Cripes.

Most likely. I never noticed it happening to even Speedplay until it was pointed out to me during the last sale. It makes sense and I would expect to see more of this at both Performance and other sites.
