Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Club Rides, Lights, Yehuda Moon Stlye

I love Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery. It's a comic strip that pits retro-grouch/Fred vs road weenie. In general it is a wonderful strip that demonstrates a great depth of understanding concerning our community.

Specifically ...today while looking for lights online I stopped to check out the daily version of the strip....

....enough said. The man is a genius.

That cartoon would make no sense in S. California.

I love love love Yehuda Moon! I think you can only fully get it if you've worked at a bike shop before, I've shown it to some people who aren't shop guys and they just don't quite "get it", at least not all of it.

It might help if you've worked in a shop, but not necessary. If you've been around the community for long enough then you know the deal.

Some of the real subtle ones have snuck up on me and left me laughing for a long time.

Thanks for the link - I just spent the last half hour scrolling through from January onward. Funny stuff, and spot on.

No need to have worked in a bike shop to "get it"...but it does help if you know a "Yehuda" of your own...which I do

Yeah, the head mechanic at my last shop was a total "Yehuda" in every way. Those cargo bikes do come in handy sometimes though when you have to go pick up lunch for the whole shop.

I usually don't check up on it for a couple weeks and then just sit down and go through everything since the last time I checked. Recently I went a few months without looking at it and spent a better part of an afternoon at work going through everything I missed. It was great, best day at work I've had in a while.

Great stuff though...that guy is brilliant and totally in touch with the cycling culture.

Yehuda Moon kinda sucks... sorry. It's just not very funny. I give it credit for sincerity though.

I'm a fan. I suspect it gets more love from utility cyclists than roadies based on its content.

There's a thread in commuting about it. Currently on the first page so I'm going to be lazy and not post a link here.

I look forward to reading it every day.

Actually, other than XKCD, it's the only comic strip I actually read anymore.
