Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

Oakley sunglasses for cycling

My buddy gets 50% or more off of Oakley's and wants to buy me a pair.

What style works for cycling and what are your experiences with Oakley's?

Add another Radar fan - also Path shape. Best upgrade I've done on my bike yet - no more fogging - for me, it works like a charm!

Great for riding, but you look like a tool when just wearing them around...

I've worn Oakley Twentys for years and am gobbling them up on Ebay. Great riding glasses and look good off the bike too...

I had the Oakley Flak Jackets (and lost them...remember, I'm the guy that got locked inside of my own bathroom AND lost a pair of Mavic Aksiums). They were LEGIT. The lenses were spectacular, and they felt like quality.

I now use Ryders, and they are pretty good...but not OAKLEY good.

Tried the Radar Paths, Range, and Pitch, don't fit. I'm sticking with Pro M Frames for a long time. There's a reason why M Frames are the defacto standard for most athletes from all sorts of sports, it works. The Radar is just another rouse for Oakley to sell more shades to people who already have the M Frame.

definetly stick with the ones that fit. however, i would not call them a rouse. every manufacture looks to update and upgrade their offerings from time to time. looking at this years TDF the Radars were all over riders faces and i dont recal seing to many, if any, M Frames. later.

I love my Flak Jackets, on and off the bike. On the bike, though, I love my Tifosi Stelvio frames more. Great at keeping sweat out of your eyes, and they stay where you put them, no matter what. Less fogging than my Oakley's, and not by just a little bit. The frames come with three lenses, case, and cleaning cloth, all for the price of one set of lenses (no frames, just lenses) from Oakley.

But I do love my Flak Jackets. Really.

Flak jackets for me. they work off the bike for me better than the Radars (which are too big and shield like). i've been wearing Oakleys since they started making glasses. i've tried others, but Oakleys optics are still the best.

One vote for the polarized Bottlecaps

Here's another vote for the Oakley Radar. Very fog resistant and good air flow. I bring a clear lens as well and swap lenses at twilight or in afternoon fog - which takes only ten seconds or so once you get the hang of it. The gray lens is contrasty enough to see road features when going in and out of deep shadow, which is a godsend.

Sponsorship obligations, you are to wear what your sponsors want you to wear. Notice some riders are late to the change to Radars from M Frames until Oakley pressured them to wear Radars instead. I wouldn't call the Radar an upgrade, besides the hydrophobic coating on the lenses, it's not much of an improvement over the M Frames, besides looking good on some people's face.

The Neon is hideous. The lens are nice, but Fire Iridium wouldn't be my choice at all. Gold Iridium and VR28 is the best Oakley lens out there, along with G30. IMHO.

I wear oakley canteens. Not a very traditional style frame, but hey, who needs periph vision.

By the way www.usstandardissue.com great place for military and LEO to buy any oakley product used for military at a great price. Only bad thing is the glasses only come in two colors: black and sand. Go figure
