DARKNESS motivates me to ride HARD

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

DARKNESS motivates me to ride HARD

Haha, w/ the change in the seasons here in SOCAL, the days have gotten a lot shorter, didn't realize how quickly it go dark today until it was too late... caused me to freak out cuz I didn't prepare my light (very irresponsible).

What this all meant was a new PR on my 21 mile route!!! 16.1 mph w/ headwinds about 8 miles of the way.

VERY PROUD

I like riding at night too. I just try not to go to fast or push too hard.

Darkness now warns me that there is a mountain lion close by and he'll try and eat me, haha. Had one cross my path 50' in front of my car and run into an apartment complex. Motivation to ride faster I suppose.

Oh and I did call police dispatch and they were searching for it shortly after. I live in the hills and even though this is my first sighting of one, it doesn't surprise me they are around.

Yeah, I get that way in rain. I try to quantify it though, and tap into that mentality in other conditions.

I love riding at night. Less traffic, cooler weather, and the occasional critter or noise in the woods to really get you going. The best thing I have encountered that put me in turbo mode was a huge rattlesnake.
