Why do rational, mature adults go all blubbery when it comes to Cervelo?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Whoa, I just realized I accused Cervelo of being ubiquitous. It was an ugly thing to say and I'm sorry I said it.

They make good bikes. They have good customer service. Would I buy one? No. Will I bash them? Well, that would be silly.

Is it because they're shiny?

I'm starting to feel that Cervelos are the Cabbage Patch Kids and Tickle Me Elmos of the cycling world.

I mean, what makes them so special compared to every other expensive, well made frame aside from self-induced hype?

Im rational, mature and adult. I do not go "blubbery" over Cervelo bicycles. I would not buy one and if one were given to me I would sell it, fly to Italy and buy a Cinelli Pro Estrada with a Record gruppo and Scirocco wheels.

Good choice, that's how gawdy graphics should be done. I still wouldn't buy one unless I ride it first.

Record and Scirocco. Not that you have to, but please justify one way or the other. 1800 group w/ 50 dollar wheels. I'm not getting this at all.

Personally I think the fat cervelos look very aero. What is attractive is in the eye of the beholder. De gustabus no disputandum.

Indeed.

Quoted from Cervelo's site:

"Every Cervélo frame comes with a limited lifetime warranty for the original owner. For full details on this warranty, please click here. Please note that frames not purchased from an authorized dealer are not covered by any warranty. For a list of authorized dealers, please check our dealer locator below. "

Now I guess I have to sell the P2C and buy a Lynskey imported from Taiwan.
