If you are looking the Road Bikes for under $750 sticky, it's gone seeing as that there is only a very small percentage of road bikes that cost under $750 new. The prices of road bikes have gone up.
What sort of bike are you looking for?

A friend is looking for a starter bike. Wanted to refer him to the thread that was here w/ hundreds of posts on less expensive bikes. Perhaps it was <$750. Will search for that as I was searching $1000................
Found it. Thanks.

Well...I'm about to pick up an 09 Specialized Allez that I ordered. $880.00. Not too bad. I'm a beginner as well. The components are fine for me. Mix of Tiagra and the newly updated Sora. Take a look at one of 'em.

I ordered the thread erased, the proponents of such bicycles banned, and the discussion of such topics prohibited. We are taking names.
I got my EYE on you.
Now STFU, get out that Visa Card and go buy a decent $2,000+ bicycle.

Don't listen to all of the bike nazi's who think you need to spend 2 large on a road bike. Get fitted at a good bike shop, and then scour craigslist once you know what size you should be riding. Also check out end of season specials.

Let the flaming begin, but I say bikesdirect.com is a good source for < $1000 bikes, but make sure you know what fits first!
