Shimano WH-7701 wheelset ?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano WH-7701 wheelset ?

I just bought a used 07 Lemond Zurich with Dura-Ace and Ultegra mix. The guy swapped the Bontranger Race Lite wheels for some black Shimanos, saying they were an upgrade. They are lighter and do spin up nice. But he couldn't remember the model of the wheels. So today I am pulling the ugly Shimano decals off and I notice the model no. next to the hub. WH-7701. I look it up, and relaize I scored a set of Dura -Ace wheels! Yee-ha

Anyone ride these? They are the AL/TT ones, not carbon. Hope I didn't eff up the value of them by removing the decals.

The first generation Shimano wheels weren't anything spectacular, but they were very aero and pretty stiff.

They use the same internals as the Dura-Ace hubs of the time, so the bearings and races are of very high quality.
