Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

cool.

yesterday it was 80 degrees in chicagoland, but i sat inside all day. sick. sicker then a dog. then my dog and my three year old who got me sick. wait, maybe it was the dog. ergo, my legs are not sore. well, a little sore from Sundays group ride where i hammered off the front, but not from yesterdays sickness. ergo, aham23 sad. later.

For the past few weeks it seemed as though your legs
were the only part of your body not hurting. Now you
intentionally go out and make them hurt as well.
Just curious, is your wife a Dominatrix.

Well you spent so much time whining about that little collarbone scratch, and now you want leg sympathy?

Try paying attention when you ride now, don't want anymore surgery.

Yeah I rode every day this weekend. Work has been killing me for the last two weeks...I could not sleep because Im so sore. I do have the strength to eat and I did ...so here goes.....

Parma prosciutto, grilled artichokes, with artichoke mousse.

Cauliflower soup with puff pastry wrapped brie.

Halibut with fiddlehead ferns

Veal chop resting on a bed of grits. .

Pasta YiaYia was damn good

Roast chicken

Carrot cake

I am a chocolate fan and the chocolate crepes were delicious.

Damn, I guess that's where the weight loss came from

Yeah, I was able to ride in the drops. It wasn't a hammer ride so the only time I was in the drops was ona descent. There were three notable descents on the ride, for the first one I held back and lost contact with the group. At first I was on the hoods but went to the drops for stability. I had to do almost 500W for 1 minute to catch them when the descent was shallower... the second descent I had started a little ahead of most of the group and scrubbed off speed and was with the group at the bottom. The last I put in a big effort on the climb, started way ahead of most everyone and cruised down.

There was one other rider back with me on the first descent, he recently started riding "uprights" again after being on bents for 15 years due to back problems. He said it was taking some getting used to going down hills "head first".
