Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tonino Lamborghini Classica Road Bike - opinions?

Looking at this bike, what is everyone's opinion? Is it a good buy, ride, quality? Anything that is missing from this bike to make it a top ride? I mean - the name is good?

I wouldnt give up twenty dollars for this bike. The components are awful, its not going to ride well at all and will probably break within the first month. Be weary of any new road bike for under 600 dollars. Most new, entry level road bikes will cost you 650 to 750 dollars. If you cant spend that much I would try to find a good deal on a used one.

Got to agree, having gone that route when I got into cycling. You are better off spending your $300-400 (or a lot less) on a vintage bike with decent components, like an older Specialized Allez or Centurion Ironman Dave Scott, for example.

I believe those bikes are made by Kent. Kent makes a lot of department store grade bikes for various companies.

Yeah, but those ignorant enough will think that $349 is a fancy, expensive bike and assume that with a name like Lamborghini it MUST be awesome.

you'd be much better off buying a Caad9 7.

Cheapo. Much better off with a name brand from the nineties. It's what I did.

Lamborghini bikes are walmart quality. They also have a hybrid version, also sold by walmart. You can draw your conclusions from that.

Tonino Lamborghini is the son Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the car company. Under his name is marketed all sorts of fashion and sport items. The Lamborghini family hasn't had anything to do with the car company since 1972.

The bikes are made by Kent. they also make the GMC and Cadillac bikes.

While I have to agree with all the sentiments posted above - I will admit that this bike could be good for some people under certain conditions.

If you are a weekend warrior looking to tool around the neighborhood with your kids or maybe a little more, then this bike will work for you. If you plan to jump in and ride 3-5 times a week at a semi serious clip and distance, then you would certainly be better off going used with your money.

Bikes like this are fine as long as you don't expect too much from them. Even the best of road bikes will need occasional adjustments and tuning under normal use - this bike simply won't last under a heavy workload.

I am conventional rider, I am not going to be using a bike on a daily basis (maybe after it gets warm again I ll ride to work). but, if this bike is taken out 3-5/week for 8 mile/day, what could go wrong with it? the chain could break, tires pop, weaker breaks?

thanks

The only frame size still available is 63 cm, which is very tall. Unless you have a very long inseam length, it probably won't fit.

Oddly enough, it doesn't specify whether or not you can clean it in the washing machine.

Funny to click on the link and read the "reviews" from folks who "bought" one...I was waiting for the "I just pulled it out of the box, put on the wheels and I was riding" lines we've seen so often.

I like the reviews that call 28 lb road bikes light. I think that was a Denali review on Amazon maybe.

But 28 pounds is light relative to the 50 pound X-Mart MTB...

Run, don't walk, from that bike. Its no more than a toy. The box it comes in will be more useful than the contents.

My wife purchased this bicycle for me as a gift. I had just returned to the sport after 20 years of not ride. I had an old Mountain Bike, and it was hurting me. The bike is well designed and beautiful. It has a wonderful feel to it, great gearing, and comfort. This is a great bike for just for fun road cycling. I had test rode a Fuji Newest 4.0 and I felt there was no difference, except for the cost. I do recommend if you are not a skilled bike mech. to take your bike toa professional bike shop to tune your ride. I love it.
