Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Helpm sizing a Gore Alp-x Jacket

Hi, I'm considewring the purchase of a Gore Alp-x jacket mostly for rainy days and have seen several different sizing charts on different places (websites from Gore, Nashbar, Performance, etc.). I'm 5 feet 7 inches, 175 pounds, with a chest size of roughly 40 inches. If I go by, lets say, Nasbar sizing I'm a large (41), on Performance I'm a medium, on Gore website I'm a XL.

This is the jacket

This is the chart for Gore Bike Wear Website:

This is the sizing chart from Performance Bike

I have read the jacket is a slim fit and that some people suggest bigger size than what the sizing chart shows, but what chart should I trust?

Thanks,

Francisco

i'd say it all depends on how you want it to fit. if you're mostly going to wear it with a jersey and some baselayers underneath, maybe armwarmers i'd probably go with a large. if you want really race fit go medium. the xl will undoubtably be too big.
it can be hard to order stuff online if you're in between sizes, so just accept you may have to exchange it. i'd probably start with the large.

Thanks for the advice. I live in Puerto Rico and so the cold weather is not a concern at all, and since don't want it to be too tight, will follow your suggestion and give it a try to the large first.

Regards,

Francisco
