Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It is happening again...

No. I don't need another bike. I kept telling myself this. And for the most part, I managed to convinced myself. Until darkness came. Early, early darkness. Leaves me with a lot of time on my hands, since I cannot ride after work anymore. Going through withdrawal. Breathe deep, think.... serenity. Serenity. Serenity now, insanity later. So I broke down.

And this is what came through my mail slot. It's a damn big one. The mail slot. Not the frame.

I know light bikes are all the rage here, but I really think some wheels would be worth the extra weight.

I don't like integrated seat masts, but that's a sexy frame.

I like that frame much better than the new ones. Awesome purchase, post pics when it's built.

Very nice frame. Off topic, but since BananaTugger posted it. Are the spokes in those Mavic carbon? If so, are they fixed? What happens one one breaks, and they will? How is it replaced?

The entire wheel is carbon. The design and construction is similar to what Lightweight uses. The NDS spokes on the rear wheel are adjustable. Everything else is bonded and laminated. If it breaks, it's done.

I'm going through the same thing myself. I have a major itch to get a new ride, but this time of year we spend money on all our poor relatives, the same ones who matched my request and got a $12'cycling' jersey at Wal Mart (it was actually an imitation under armour shirt). I have the sinking suspicion they 'accidently' bought wrong thing when they saw the 45$ price tag.

Anyway, very nice frame, grats.

Pedals, handlebars and stem are in - saddle is on the way. And so will be Chorus 11. Nothing has been cut or tightened yet.

Hi,

Looks very nice. One of my clubmates just got one of these through ebay. He's a little short on cash so I told him to look at 2008 Centaur.
