Get another bike or modify this bike to suit your needs better. Freakin DUH!
What's your next rant...why it takes you so long to chop down trees with your toenail clippers?

Easily deflated inner tubes
I'm always weary when going over bumps. I keep thinking how I'm losing air and might get a flat (I've gotten a lot of flats)
And the constant weekly pumping required to keep my tire at 116 psi is annoying

Also you can bunnyhop big gaps in the road you see in front of you. I'm serious. This helps out a lot. We'll see if I get flamed for this. But I ride in nyc and most of the roads are terrible here. Plus its fun.
If you want to stay with road bikes try out the Schwinn Circuit. 700c wheels. Shimano 2200 group. It'll go faster than what you have (if you're into that).
If you just want to be comfy there are some great hybrids out there. Go to bike shops and test ride everything.

I'm trying to be serious here
So you guys all use your road bike simply for the sake of exercise and on the trails? Not for commuting purposes?

I use both of my road bikes (one flat bar, one with drops) for commuting. All of the suggestions I offered on page one were serious.

I was completely serious; you are seriously fail. I commute on mine, ride it for run, and race on it. It is comfortable for me. But if you are only riding a mile at a time and only using it for commuting, you bought the wrong kind of bike. All of the things you complained about are either in your mind or can be corrected easily and cheaply.

Commuting on my CF bike is loads of fun. After climbing the Hill O' Doom on the way to work, I get to finish the day playing the MUP Self-Loathing Game (if anyone happens to pass me).
