Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How old are your oldest bibs, and what's the longest distance that you've worn them?

My Verge bibs are a year old, and I think I rode a century on them once.
They're pretty crap. I landed up losing them, but I wouldn't have used them to ride with anymore, anyway.

I have bibs that are 3 years old. I don't wear them anymore, they are completly worn out. All of the bibs that I wear regularly are Voler, and I've ridden double centuries in them.

I have some Castelli Domes that are at least four years old. Longest ride on them is probably around 86 miles. They've got plenty of miles left.

Clarify "longest distance you've worn them" - on a single ride or lifetime?

Oldest bibs - Performance Ultra, ~2.5 years
Single ride - century
Lifetime - maybe 3000 miles?

They're my oldest set, but not my favorite, I hardly wear them these days.

Mac

PS - what's the point of this post? I'm not used to seeing these type of "survey" posts by botto.

Try bibs. It's like night and day. You'll never go back.

Around 6 years old Voler bibs.
My Verge bibs are 4 years old.
I love bibs but boy are they costly. Holding onto mine, they are quite worn in the sensitive spots LOL, as long as I can.

I wear both shorts and bibs; I don't feel a difference between the two.

What is it about shorts that bothers you when riding? I have more bibs than shorts but, honestly, when I'm riding I don't think about what I'm wearing. They're both comfortable to me.

Got a pair of Louis Garneau Lycra Power w/ Ergozone Chamois in the summer of 2004.
Wore them on 4-5-6 hr rides and they are not fun at the end - as I stood a lot to avoid chaffe.
They are on 2X20 trainer duty now, but they did good during their years of service.

No one got this bottoism? Do you really think botto would ask such a random question? Does he really care about your bib shorts?

He's making fun of "what's the longest SOLO ride" thread.

Come on people.

I've got one bib from about 1957. It's got some beet and yam stains on it, but I managed to wear it all the way from KY to DE in like 1958.

No wait - you meant cycling bib shorts
