1) Lead through a corner with your shoulder
2) Put your weight on the outside pedal
3) Higher cadence in a group/race to handle accelerations/surges

1) Train with intensity, race like you train.
2) It only hurts while it hurts.
3) No matter how much it hurts, the other guy is hurting more.
4) Dig deeper.

I believe there was a thread titled "BF is not reality."
Realizing that the majority of "real" people out there on the roads don't think like (the majority of) roadie BF'ers has benefitted me the most.

My very first race was at the age of 14 (Back then the category was called "Intermediate") and took place about 3 months after I got my first "real" bike. I knew very little about cycling, less about technique, and nothing about strategy.
So three of us line up for the start, and I take off like a bat out of he11. The two others hang on my wheel for 12 miles, and promptly slingshot by at the finish. I did manage to hold off one of them so I took second.
After the race, the cat 3 rider who drove me to the race said, "You should try to stay behind people during the race, and ideally, just pass them at the end." A little late, but good advice that I heeded for the next 10 years of racing. I haven't raced much since about age 25, but I assume that advice is still valid.
