Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

FSA Bottom Bracket Compatibility with other Cranksets....

I always thought that FSA bottom brackets could be used with Shimano Cranks (I know that SRAM/Truvativ use a different standard).

But in light of things, it seems that FSA has several versions of BB's available for different cranks.

I was wondering if a BB-8200 ceramic MEGA-EXO bottom bracket that is designed for their Light cranksets could be used with Shimano or other non-Light cranksets. Does anyone know this answer or has purchased a Ceramic BB from FSA to put on their bike?

That's what I thought, but there are two different versions of the Mega-EXO: BB-8000 and BB-8200.

The 8200 is ceramic, but on FSA's website it says that it is only compatible with the Light versions (SL-K Light and Light) while the 8000 applies to the non-light versions?

"Fits: BB-8200 fits K-Force Light, SL-K Light, BB-8000 fits K-Force, SL-K cranksets"

If it fits an FSA crank, then it'll fit a Shimano crank.

It's the same standard with the same dimensions.

There are a number of riders and teams who stick these FSA ceramic bottom brackets in their Shimano geared rigs.

Thanks a lot BananaTugger. I'm going to put one up for sale soon and didn't want to mislead buyers!
