Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Down to 2 bikes....I need your opinion

OK...buying a bike for my girlfriend. I just purchased a 2005 Trek 1000 for $300. The bike has a good bit of miles on it but is in great condition minus bald tires and worn down bar tape. Here's the bike:

I also just found a 2006 Specialized Dolce that I can get for $340. This bike only has 400 miles on it and is in great shape. Here is the bike: https://louisville.craigslist.org/bik/903772182.html
Here are the specs: https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/B...1818&Type=bike

I was thinking about turning around and selling the Trek for a little more than $300...turn a profit....then buy the Specialized. What do you think I should do?

Pretty much a wash...go with the one that fits better first and the prettier one second.

Does either of them fit your girl? That's really the important question here; the components appear mostly the same.

I have a Specialized Dolce and love it...but that doesn't mean your girlfriend will feel the same. Comfort is such a subjective thing. Both bikes are equally nice for the money.

The best thing is to have her try the Dolce and see which one fits her best, as someone else suggested.
