I don't own them, but I've only heard good things about the company and their wheels. For the price range I'd have to recommend the Soul 5.2T or 5.2C.
If you're using it for training as well, probably the C (clincher).
The 5.2T is 1346g 51 mm deep dish set for $1165 shipped.
The 5.2C is the same except it weighs 1475g.
They say they're good for training. They're relatively new still, so I don't think there is much out there about durability.
Buy them and let us know.
edit: All of their high end sets are in the same price range, the rest are just heavier. I think 51mm is a perfect size for an all around wheelset, and these are light enough to be used for pretty good climbing wheels too.

So you're looking at around USD$800? there's quite a bit in that range in terms of reliable wheels. My American Classic 420's have served me well training, racing, and commuting.

DT Swiss RR 1450s - $700
OR have a set of wheels built with DT Swiss 240s hubs, DT Revolution spokes [competition spokes for rear-drive side] and some DT 1.1 rims [or look into Niobium or Velocity Aerohead OCs].

For bang for buck, I'd go with a powertap rear wheel laced to Velocity Fusions (Velocity, as you may know, is Australian too) and whatever front wheel these other people recommend. However, it sounds like you want bang for under $800. I recommend that you just wait to buy a Powertap.
