Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Weird feeling in legs

Has anyone had this weird pain that I can only describe as a radiation of 'feeling/heat' almost like pins and needles when something falls 'asleep' in the area on their tibia in the area under and medial to the knee.

It doesn't really hurt, and it feels weird. Doesn't bother me while riding, but I'm not sure what it is.

I'm just curious if anyone has had this happen, and what they did to fix it.

Thanks!

Are you diabetic?

It can be a number of things. I actually have compartment syndrome in my right calve region. One of the reasons I stopped running. Started about two years ago and it would not go away and only got worse. Basically after running a bit my right leg would go numb and get all tingly and I would have to stop and massage my leg. Felt like I was running with a tree stump as a leg. Ended up taking up the bike and it hasn't bothered me at all while riding.

But we really can't diagnose you here. Got a picture of you on the bike? Just to check your bike fit.

If it's really bothering you go see a doc.

Not a diabetic.

I had a bike fit done by a pro a few weeks ago, but I have since changed cranks and saddle, and q factor and such are different so I'm finding the adjustment again.

I think I realized what happened.

I think I was pulling up with my feet too much and I possibly have the start of shin splints? It doesn't hurt on the bike but it feels tingly/radiating later. I'm icing it now.

How would I adjust saddle height for this? Down a hair?

Seriously if your worried enough about it to ask questions on the internet you should go see a doctor. My friend had his fibula surgically removed today because a couple of weeks ago he went to the doc with a pain in his shin and they found an benign growth on the bone.

I'm glad your friend caught it in time, but that's not what I have. Not every little ache and pain is grounds for a freakout.
