Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ouch.

Old news...

And they're riding SRAM equipped Kuotas as well...saw one of the TT bikes a couple of weeks ago in Charlotte. It was swanky.

I'll wear my healthnet fleece jacket this morning in honor of them.

I had been under the impression that manufacture of the replacement hip was going to be the primary sponsor. Smith and Nephew the hip manufacture has been sponsoring a local Memphis team as well as a race for many years now. It would have been a natural fit.

He can call me a fan. I don't think he did anything that many others didn't do in the same event, and he did his time/paid his fine.

Ours was 30F at the start, close to 60F at the finish. 3 hours, mostly mellow but we had a nice 25-28mph rotation running for a solid 30 minutes and a few sprints. Brutal wind from the ENE though, egads.

When you decide to become a fan -- short for fanatic after all -- you decide to leave your intelligence and objectivity at the door.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. As long as you are aware of it.

We're all fanatics, biking fanatics . . . that's why we're here . . . otherwise we'd be doing something constructive with our lives.

True. But it doesn't follow that I am going to believe Landis's lies. Those who do, are Landis fanatics. There can be a difference between the two, thank god.

You are assuming that just because some of us are still his fans that we believe everything that was said? I never said that I believe he was clean but I am willing to believe he did his time and paid his dues. Landis got caught doing what the majority of the peleton does. Nothing more and nothing less. Don't hate the players....hate the game.

Ok. Being a fan also means that people still admire Landis despite the fact that he was dirty. I meant that to, sorry I wasn't clear.

And agreed, he got caught doing what the great majority of the peloton does.
I just found his hardheadedness in this whole ordeal unwarranted. By making such a fuss over his "innocence" he dragged the whole process out and that wasn't good for cycling. Nobody's seeing Vino with his hand out for defense funds, thank goodness. He's just doing his time -- quietly.

I honestly feel that there is more to the Landis story then we are hearing. I agree he was guilty, no question but I also feel that a lot of it just didn't add up. Hopefully this new team will allow him to show once again what he is capable of.
