Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It originated with some Australian comedian, then Stuart O'Grady gave a bunch of wristbands with the phrase to his 2007 Tour de France Teammates, then BF jumped on the bandwagon.

You could have Googled it and saved yourself the humiliation of having to ask:

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=htfu

Bonus question: Now tell us what FTW stands for.

hmmm.....well i think "hurry" would work even better. i mean, if you were racing then "hurry" would be more appropriate. also, you could say it to your wife or girlfriend...."honey, lets go, the flight leaves in 30 minutes and we need to get to the airport".....wife : "but i need to finish my makeup and find my right shoes"....husband : "b*tch, hurry the f*ck up" !!!

According to Urban Dict, it means "For the Win", but that's not what it meant when I was 13.

harden is where it started. it may have taken on other meanings over time, but the origin is harden.

So, we're not supposed to say anything critical to posters, but they can start threads with:

" i am not hip like you internet losers"

awesome.

Exactly. Don't start a post like that without your asbestos suit on.
