I like the ColdGear shirts but they need some Tall sizes. My frame is size medium/large but my wingspan would be an XL. So I end up with about two inches of wrist showing. Drives me crazy. I guess they don't make tall + skinny football players...

to each his own, but i have tried the Wally World stuff and even the Champion stuff from target. when i say tried, i mean extensively, for a full cycling and running season (1 year). the cheap stuff does not hold up or last as long as UA.
when you compare UA stuff to say, Pearl Izumi or Craft, the price is in line. later.

I doubt it will be different for sport specific garments.

The champion stuff works great. I have two long sleeved base layers going into their second year with little wear from when they were new....and i wore the **** out of them running/riding.
Very similar to the UA stuff i looked at....only they cost $12.

Screw that idea! I want UA to implode and go away. Don't encourage a company started and run by meatheads that aims at getting testosterone filled meathead high school football players to spend $30 on a head sock to enter cycling. Now you have suburban soccer moms with big wide post-preggo mom butts walking around in pink UA polos and garbage, like their brisk .8 mile afternoon walk requires special "gear".
I hate that company. How is what they make any different than the stuff from 30 other athletic apparel companies, aside from their urban jungle, violence-infused marketing? They attract high school kids who unnecessarily spend their parents money on some shirt that IS NOT going to make them a college athlete and overweight former athletes who think by wearing an UA shirt they aren't 45 pounds overweight and that they are still awesome 'cause they can bench a lot.
The last thing we need is a union of obsessive, wacko road cyclist attitude with meathead football player attitude.

I've never used their hot gear, but I've got a few of the ColdGear tops; they're the cat's ass. If UnderArmour made some cycling-specific stuff (maybe ColdGear with a 1/4 zip and a few backpockets or gloves or other stuff they could have a new fanbase.
I feel bad for those gullible weenies with their expensive jackets and such while I'm just as warm and less bulk in my cheaper top.

I should probably try out some of their cold gear, but honestly, most of this stuff (cold weather base layers) are really similar. Here in Toronto, I usually go to Moutain Equipment Co-op and buy their house brand clothing, because the stuff is usually higher quality (made in Canada) and cheaper than name brand. There are some exceptions: I've got a pair of MEC cold weather tights and another pair of Pearl Izumi. The PI tights are really exceptional in quality, however they were double the price ($120), and made in the USA.
I think UA could make some cash by entering the cycling market. Really, if a company like Assos can turn a profit by selling $150+ cycling shorts, I sure UA could attract some customers with $60 shorts.

I've been using a Champion base layer as well and it has been working great so far. I've used it as a layer this year when riding with 19 degree windchill and it did very well. We'll see how much life I get out of it, but at the price I can afford to buy several of these and still be less than a UA base layer. Or buy another one or two and be able to spread the wear out among several of them. Very satisfied with it so far.

I got a pair of winter UA bottoms and tops for christmas/birthday one year, and to be honest, they've worked pretty well against the cold. They don't necessarily stop the wind entirely, but during a chilly 30+ mile cruise they're great (with a jersey and shorts, of course). However, I do take umbrage at their marketing, since I don't really consider myself the intense, ferocious, foaming-at-the-mouth, machismo type they seem to be aiming for. I haven't really tried other brand's winter gear, though it's usually due to the length of the sleeves. I do buy other, less-expensive brands when it comes to warm weather gear. Stink and sweat drenched shirts are no fun to wear more than a couple days in a row, so I like to buy quite a few to last me through the week.
