What's The Deal With The Sticky's

No more For "Trade" Sticky or "What Road Bike Do You Have" instead we get "Bored Snowbound Roadies". :wtf: Come on mod's what were you thinking?

recursive 12-03-08 03:42 PM

I don't care what road bike you have. I'm ok with it.

LSPlo 12-03-08 03:42 PM

They're linked in the new sticky. (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=491534)

I like it. Less clutter.

Everest 12-03-08 03:44 PM

I just don't see the point in trading long time fixtures that were interesting and related to biking for pointless crap. All though this is bikeforums.net and we love our pointless crap.

bdcheung 12-03-08 03:46 PM

They were old and bloated. Once you get past 10 pages, the thread becomes a labyrinth.

Everest 12-03-08 03:49 PM

Yeah it's so much easier to wade through all this to find them not cluttered at all.

In here there are no stupid questions though being really clear and posting pictures will get you better answers as will trying to search (top right) first for an answer. For veteran users this thread will be modded a bit heavier to ensure all responses are respectful to our newer members as per the forum guidelines. Any users that violate or attempt to push those guidelines will be issued infractions without warning, as well as responses that don't attempt to answer the question (eg., "use the search") though links to relevant threads are appreciated. Me too. Both of my bikes fit there, and it's cool to see what else is out there for bargain hunters.

If you really don't like the change, there's a separate forum dedicated to hearing your suggestions.

Milice 12-03-08 04:10 PM

Gee I am glad someone pointed out where the link is for the for trade sticky. Once again the powers that be have made things more of a hassle.

Hey mods can you put that sicky back where it belongs or at least put it as a sicky in the for sale section?

I like the idea of linking the 'for trade' thread in the for sale section.

cuda2k 12-03-08 04:30 PM

I didn't touch these stickies. Lotek and I caught enough @#$% when we messed with the stickies in C&V.

Joe, I've got mixed opionions on that idea. One one hand having them all in one place would make them consolidated and eliminate multiple posting. But how many posts of all MTB stuff does one want to scan through to find Road gear, and vise-versa.

umd 12-03-08 04:34 PM

I like it the new way. Makes it clearer for new people I think.

I'm telling Event Services you said that.

Tom Stormcrowe 12-03-08 05:21 PM

The only problem is that then it wouldn't be available to everyone. If you want the for trade sticky back, that can be arranged. We were trying to consolidate the stickies into an indexed thread to reduce clutter and give the new members a starting place, though, and the Nothing thread is only going to be stuck long enough to get established and running, after that, it'll be up to you guys to keep it on the main page.

that won't be a problem.

cuda2k 12-03-08 05:54 PM

Tom, I think a For Trade thread stickied in here is a good idea. (IMHO)

Tom Stormcrowe 12-03-08 06:10 PM

OK, it's back then, and I'll unstick the TAN thread. It's up to you guys to keep it going then. :D

sac02 12-03-08 06:24 PM

Apparently I logged on right before Tom changed it up - I was going to complain about the Thread About Nothing, but then it was gone when I read ^that post and hit refresh. I like the new lack of stickies. The only thing I would change is move the "Warning" thread to the top of the stickies.

Mac

Tom Stormcrowe 12-03-08 06:28 PM

Unfortunately, as the other stickies are posted in, they replace the warning thread at the top.
Nature of the beast.

For good taste, it's in there ;)

Tell us what threads you'd like in there for quick reference and we'll add them. If you have suggestions for a better organization let us know that too - it's a work in progress but it can only get better with constructive input.

(TAN thread added to the list under Road Cycling Stickies)
