But having a spare $1k+ in the budget for a TV? I don't mean to judge, your life, your priorities, but for me, "not rolling in dough" and spending thousands on a home entertainment system just does not compute. I guess we have different points of reference.

You know, it is possible to SAVE UP for nice things, even though you're not spewing out money all the time.

Others are equally jarred by my spending money on my bikes and bike clothes, I'm no one to judge.

Now this is more like a proper dungeon. Note the sweat puddle under the rollers, convenient post for shackling, artistically decorated door for confining hobbits, half-stripped carbon frame, spare tandem wheel with drum brake, assorted torture tools, animal trap, and head-saver pad (never used). The foreground bike is my wife's "little bike": a road-converted MTB. We share the pain.
The bike on the rollers is an Ultegra equipped Nashbar Framé, quite a good winter bike frame for $120.
My parents owned TVs which convinced me to never own one of my own. We do have a small flat panel at the foot of our bed for watching Netflix, but it's not hooked up to anything except the DVD player.

Just curious @Carbonfiberboy, what do you use for visual/ audible stimulation in there?
And it looks smelly.

since some of you are posting your torture chambers and man cave's, here are mine. Some of these pictures are pretty old, as I've added some new stuff. The one with the bike is current. These rooms are opposite to each other, so the TV is sitting on the same wall as my Projection screen. My theater runs 30x26 and my "play area" for the kids run 25x20.

Here's my dungeon in the garage. Finally got the TV and Roku player set up so I can watch Netflix, etc and it makes it a lot more tolerable.

One of my favourite "torture chambers" was my living room in an apartment where I used to live. I had the TV to keep me occupied (lots of commercial intervals), but I also had the sliding doors to my balcony right there so that when I rode on cold and snowy weekends, I could open the doors for some fresh air and daylight, and I could watch what was going on outside.

haha yes they were very heavy. Only thing missing in the picture that i added later was a submersive sub for the rear riser. My goal would to put in another pb13-ultra for the front to balance it the look. But the room puts out so much bass that I'm quite happy.
