old v. new
thoughts about this bike:
"A very well cared for, recently tuned up Trek 610, 1984 road bike $375 All components, cables, frame like new. No issues.
Frame & Fork: Reynolds 531 CS Double-Butted
Fork Crown: Tange 1124 Fully Sloping
Dropouts: Suntour GS Forged with Adjusters
Components:
Shimano 600, which is equivalent to present day Ultegra group:
"("ULTimate" + "IntEGRity") is the second highest level "road" group.
Crank: Sugino AT
Stem: GB Spear quill stem, made of "Hiduminium", classic stem in New Old Stock condition
Rims: Matrix Anodic 27"
Tires: new Kenda High Pressure, 27" x 1 1/4"
versus, for example, a used 2006 model for about $500
I'm 48 years old, riding a hybrid maybe 30 miles on a Sunday and want to go on longer rides

Well, as long as they fit you (make sure of that), then really its up to you. I have an old school ride - reynolds 531 is good stuff. It will have down tube shifters, which you might consider inconvenient to the index shifting of the more modern bike.

Not worth $375. I'd go $250 if it was really like new components like new and they were Shimano 600 Arabasque parts. Also get advice from the Vintage Classics forum.
