Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bang.

Pulled the trigger on Williams 38c wheels. Report to follow, they should be here late next week. You'll see. You'll all see.

I got the clincher version, they weigh about 1600 grams. They're not Mavic. That should make that BT kid happy.

Sweet. Looking forward to your report. I run the 19s, love them. Nice to see these Williams going East.

You didn't get them with a PowerTap...

I have been looking at their PowerTap options...

I was hoping they would discount the older version but they just went right to the '09 stock...

How would he know how those wheels are good or not. He rides an old Cannondale with DA 9speed with mavic ellites.

He just repeats what he reads on WW.

Congrats. Post pics and a review when you get them.

Why not the 58's for the same price?

I thought you had 404 clinchers with a PT. Why the 38s?

58's are pretty heavy. 38's are only 1600 grams (close in weight to lighter 1450-1600 gram clinchers that are not aero). Nice compromise.

I have one 404 clincher (rear) with a PT. Not a front. I sometimes mix the front tubie/rear clincher 404 Ptap in race/competitive ride situations like in this TT for instance:

I wanted a set of nice clincher hoops for the new Cervelo S2 that were relatively light yet offered some aero mojo, also wanted carbon rims for a couple of reasons. After much research, liked the Reynolds Attacks and the Williams 38s. The Williams looked cooler however.

If you take the stickers off they look the same as the Assaults, and the assaults are more aero and about 100 grams lighter.

Doesn't make no sense..

Why would anyone take stickers off wheels? Why do you think anything in this F-d up sport makes sense in the first place? Who are you to question Pcad, the Cycling Zen Master and Sensei of Self Loathing? Where the hell are my car keys?

I bought a heat gun (or whatever the mr fix it hardware term is for it) exclusively for sticker removal. It saved me 30 grams of rotational weight.

That only makes your bizarre obsession with peeling off the decals on your rims to save the 30 grams (I'm sure it's less) of rotational weight all the more inscrutable and kinky. It's hard not to admire that. You are in the right place, and you are in the right sport, and of course you are utterly and completely off the hinges.
