Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hi,
something sliced through my old Avocet Duro K today. Got a new tube in there, but it's days are numbered. I was going to get a Rivendell, but my LBS's distributor
isn't carrying them now. I might get them anyway; but I prefer to work with my bike shop. He can get most other brands. While I need a belt, I didn't like the Conti
Gatorskin. Having the belt on the sidewall gave it a rough ride. Seems the 28c size has become something of an orphan. Got any suggestions for a sweet riding tire that doesn't weigh a ton?

I recommend the Rivendell. Very high quality and high pressure for quick 28 mm tire. I've used them on my tandem.

Thanks,
I have been searching for a while; and I agree. I even checked out Wiggle in the UK.
I think 28c is a great size. A 300 gram tire (less without the kevlar) is almost fast; but has much of the benefit you get from much larger and heavier tires. I just don't like the loss of speed you get from a 500-600 gram tire. But I do recognise they have their place. I am just not willing to give up the fun factor.
