Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

why i did not ride today (and for the past 3 weeks)? ... still recovering from knee surgery. This has truly been the most depressing time of my life...adding fuel to the fire is my brand new 09 tcr advanced 1 that came in a couple weeks back. All I can do is look at it and touch it....

1 f, -17 c with 35 mph winds.

And I have the flu. But still rode the fluid jet pro. Which made me feel worse.

What's funny...we have no snow, won't get any appreciable snow before Christmas, and it's going to be 40's, then mid 50's next weekend.

Yowza!!

Couldn't think of one, so I had to go ride. Rode down to White Rock Lake, around the lake, and back home. Saw 4 other cyclists.

I rode today. It was nice for about 50 miles and then my nose starting running like all get out to the point where my nostrils were burning. And my energy level fell through the floor. I'm wondering if I am developing an allergy because I have had this "cold" for about 3 weeks and it just won't go away completely.

Even if I weren't a wussy, the crappy roads here would be just as limiting a factor as the weather. I got my workout yesterday by scraping up 2 to 4 inches of ice from my driveway and sidewalks. I was more tired after two hours of that than if I'd actually ridden.

It's 15 degrees with 30mph winds, but that's not the real reason. The real reason is because I'm lazy.

I've been riding in the afternoons when the weather gets reasonable. However today my father called with a computer problem and I spent 3 hours over the phone trying to help him fix it.

My temporary reason for not riding today

I am getting tired of not riding which I will be hopping on my mountain bike tomorrow December 21, 2008. I fractured my right clavicle bone in two places from a recent road bike accident. Not riding is making me a little grumpier as each day passes and I don't get to ride and enjoy my flying/riding freedoms!
Screw it, it has been about 6.5 weeks which by doctors say for a fractured clavicle takes about 6-8 weeks, I am not going to wait the entire 8 weeks. But to all you riders, please don't try to breakyou clavicle it is quite painful. The first week of my injury was pure HELL!
See you guys on the road soon!

No Crashing please! (LOL)

Buttttttt! (LOL) there is always my mountain bike!!!! (LOL) I will switch out the tires tomorrow and spin around my neighborhood. Thus, lucky me I have a spare pair of wheels to keep me rollin' (rollin' on the river....(LOL)

Plannin' to get some new ones?

I rode today, broke a spoke and limped home at 10mph and low power for about 45 minutes. Luckily it was the end of my ride and I was heading home anyway.
