Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Beware of Cheap Campy Record!

Just an informational (and ranting) thing...

Someone broke into our store Sunday morning. They stole the cash drawer, the money in it, the petty cash from the owner's office, his computer monitor, and everything from our front display case. Included in that was a new Record gruppo. (2008) So, if you see anyone in the Indy area trying to sell a Record group cheap, let me know, would ya?

Man, that sucks.

I went by my team's shop on a Sunday morning, and they hadn't opened yet. I pushed on the door to see if they were getting ready to open, and went right in. Our team leader's (Cat 1) brand new (unridden) 12-lb Addict was leaning against the wall. Two Mac Books on the counters. Nobody in there at all.

It had been unlocked all night! This is adjacent to the University of Texas campus, and a VERY high bike theft area. I called one of the owners and got someone to come lock it up, and waited until they got there. Whew.

I don't know if they were smart or not. They stole the Record group, Red cranks, Red cassette, Look pedals, and such, but left the shiny new Look 586 ProTeam frame that was hanging over their heads as they stole the cash drawer.

They left ALL of the bikes and frames.

You can't stuff frames in a sack.

I surely could have gotten away on the bike. I'd have to steal a kid's bike too though, since I had my 6-year-old with me.

Ya, I've done the WRCC's century but I am not a member of the club. Are there any racers in that club? I am a junior looking to get in to some faster group rides and talk to people about racing. I will look to join this upcoming year or at least look into it.
