Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Data fields Garmin with Power

Just got the Quarq installed and linked to the Garmin. Now I need to figure out which fields i want to display on the Garmin. Curious what others do.

row 2 - hr / power
row 3 - cadence / speed
row 4 - distance / time of day

For bike 1:

Power
Pzone HR
Cadence Speed
Distance Elapsed time

Bike 2 has all my max and averages with time of day.

For indoor I just have Power, cadence, hr and time.

That's pretty much how I've got it divided now. Bike 1, all current stuff, speed, power, cadence, hr,grade.

Bike 2, cummulative stuff, average speed, total ascent, kj, average power, max power.

I'm using the 8 entry mode for both screens and have the first screen set up with all the current stuff (as you have) along with some of the "lap" totals/averages (such as lap power, lap time) for use with intervals and also, IIRC, % grade and something else...it'd probably be easier just to post pics

One of the nice things about the Garmin display is that you can so easily configure and try out different schemes until you find the one that floats your boat

My only gripe (and YMMV) with the 8 display is that I can't easily make out the power number when I'm mid-interval.

I agree about the convenience of being able to dictate what's on the screen though. During most races, I just have one field showing: total time.

For select races, I program the race course in to the Garmin and mark potential attack points as well as some other information about the course.

Does the Garmin display actual sunset, or civil, nautical, or astronomical twilight?

You move between the Bike 1 and Bike 2 screens by moving the joystick while on the data view. It confused me when I first got my 705 as I thought they related to the bike profile, I wish in some way they did as I don't need the cadence and lap information most of the time on my MTB.

Thanks.

I thought that was just the current lap data that I couldn't change. My is set(possibly factory default?)with lap speed, lap distance, and lap time. Old dog learned new trick - time for my nap.

On my 305:

Bike 1 = time, HR (use for cross racing)
Bike 2 = time, cadence, HR, grade (use for everything else including RR, and crits)
