Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Exchange rate smokin deals - ProBikeKit

This topic has been discussed so many times, but heads up if your looking to buy equipment for the Spring. Exchange rate today is $USD 1.0 = $GBP 1.38.

Bought today:

(2) Michelin ProRace 3 tires
(1) Shimano Ultegra 6620 SL pedal
(1) Shimano Dura-Ace chain

Grand Total = $USD 157

The tires alone would cost that much with shipping in the U.S.

Cheers to the Brits

It is not just an exchange rate issue. I've been buying from PBK for years and they are always real cheap.

I wouldn't fret the small stuff. After all we will always have the "government" to bail us out. I wouldn't be surprised if someone wasn't already developing a Doomsday Fund.

You're looking at the Ultegra SL pedal , whereas the other poster is referring to the regular Ultegra ones (non SL) , which are cheaper. Also, add to that the 5% discount code.

I presume you mean "hoard"? If so, skip the cash. Go for canned goods and ammo.

Nope. Both Ultegra pedals. Both SL. Only difference is the finish.

FYI: I was looking for a Centaur crankset, PBK has them for $250, I check Performance and got one for $150 with a $20 off code.

What I mean is that the pedals you bought were the regular Ultegras (silver finish PD-6620) which cost about $81. Whereas mooxster was looking (and the reason why he was questioning your price) at the Ultegra SL (PD-6620G )which cost about $97. I know they are identical except for the finish.

Yeah, I just stocked up on P3Rs for the season. I just realized that I only had one left.

Got some Aztec brake pads too.

Still holding out. There's another -15% to be had in the currency market.

PBK sells out fast. To people like OP - STOP MAKING THESE THREADS. If you see a good deal, buy your stuff and keep quiet. You're not getting paid by them to advertise.

they are paying more for their products dependent on the exchange rate as well... you only gain from short term swings that allow you to use your now stronger currency.

but at the moment we could see the GBP hit $1.30 in the short term.
