Polar - Buttons Sticking - Customer Service
Just as an fyi -
My 4 yr old Polar 725 reached the point where the buttons were sticking, making it impossible to set laps on the fly or switch displays.
When I sent it to Customer Service, they said the buttons had corrosion. They then replaced the casing for a 625 casing and replaced the battery for $70. Total time, about 1 week.
On the one hand, I'm a little bummed that a sports product isn't designed to resist the limited amounts of rain and perspiration to which I've exposed my HRM.
On the other, the customer service side was pretty efficient and $70 is better than junking a +$300 HRM (not to mention the $ invested in extra cadence and speed units I've purchased for my various bikes).
When I decided to go with Polar, I thought I would also get the power unit. I've pretty much decided against that. That being the case, there are probably less expensive systems out there that accomplish the same thing - HRM + cycling computer w/downloadable data.
