Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Campy freehub. Mine looked like someone took a hammer to it. New cleats as well.

While recently vacationing on Maine's Mount Desert Island, I made a few more bicycling-related purchases. Before I hit the trails in Acadia National Park, it came time for me to buy new tires as the former ones were just about worn out. Also, I bought a new Kryptonite cable lock.

Bliss: *drool*

Just had a crash, so bought a new helmet and, as a get-well present to myself, a cheap cyclocomp with cadence.

I went on a small shopping spree this morning.

Just ordered 2 pairs of Craft bib knickers and 2 pairs of Craft bib shorts for $126 from PBK and I ordered some Crud Roadracer fenders from the Crud-USA website. The fenders are backordered until next week, but hopefully they'll make my riding compatriots a bit happier this winter.

Yesterday I received my SON 20R with 32 hole Open Pro rim, Schmidt Edelux LED headlight and DToplight XS plus taillight. I'm ready for the long Winter nights.
Pumped over 600$ into the economy.

I'm in the process of buying a $200,000 bike storage building.

All other expenses will have to wait.

That's like when I say that I buy a paper sack from the grocery store for 80 bucks but it includes free food.

The last few things I bought were Proofide, a new tube, and a Michelin Krylion Carbon 700x23 tire.

Oh, and a Japanese brass bell for the city bike. It's outright pretty -- the usual Incredibells look like cheap trash by comparison.
