Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I totally need some shoes like that! Mine are Bontrager SPD's and are more like regular road shoes but with raised plastic "tread" on the bottom. Still annoying to walk around in.

Thanks! Yeah, I wanted shoes that I can walk reasonably comfortably in. Got this pair for $90 at REI. I tried a couple of Pearl Izumi pairs too, but they were both too narrow for me.

Probably knockoffs. They go for $30 shipped. Very light for the price though. Mine was 170 grams.

Ahh, didn't you already have a cannondale? I'm trying to remember the first pic you posted in HrN and everyone gave you flack at first because it was slightly blurry and had some green on it or something. I can't quite remember...I remember liking that bike too.

What model did you pick up?

Also, do you do the Underground Crit at all on Tuesday nights? Every now and then I see some Bicycle Haus guys riding, but they're just a blur in the A group and I'm usually just a spectator shooting the **** by that point.

None of it came from Hong Kong (at least to me)....bout the price I paid. Knocked off? Still light, we'll see how it rides Sunday.

That was my bmc which died an untimely death. As for the Tuesday night ride i won't go near it, crashes are far too common and some of the best racers I know have been taken out there. My usual routine is Tuesday and Thursday Gainey so I'm up at 0345 for those, Saturday bos or west valley and the rest of the days are my solo rides.

My most recent addition is a GoPro Hero 3. For those that don't frequent the Electronics forum, let me just briefly ask if any others here use one and found it interferes with your Garmin? Mine does. I've put them as far apart as possible on the handlebar and the GPS still causes the Garmin to be unable to accurately track speed and therefore distance. Mine's off by about half a mile in a hour's time. You can watch the speed and see it drop to exactly half for a second or so 3 or 4 times a minute. If something similar has happened to you, I'd love to hear your fix. Please reply on the Electronics thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...o-interference

Ha, bmc makes sense...

Yeah, I'm more of a spectator on tuesday nights. My office is right next to the course, so I head over there early and do loops, then usually run the neutral laps with the b group. When they start to pick up the pace, I hang in the back, get dropped, and practice sprinting back up to pack...repeat until I get about 20 miles in. Then just hang out and shoot the ****. There hasn't been any crashes since I've been there, some guy biffed it because his back wheel flatted around a corner, but he didn't take anyone out. The a group was starting to get testy out there last Tuesday, I saw some pushing while I was on the sideline.

So glad you noticed that one must adhere to the Trek/Bontrager cartel for all parts and components, under threat of excommunication...

I really like my ZIPP bars. The short and shallow is a lot more comfy to me, I spend more time in the drops now than I did before. I got the contour SL carbon bars, super happy with them.

Arts Cyclery has the Giro Air Attack's on sale for $150. Thought I'd try it out as it might be just right for the cooler months. Two bad I have to wait another month before it comes back in stock, but thats ok.

just got the Quadlock mounting kit last Friday and Im impressed so far. Ive only ridin with it for a 30 mi ride and its everything i was expecting. locking and unlocking is easy, the mount is sturdy and firm. Now i can see my Strava progress without having to pull it out of my jersey pocket everything. It came with Obands and zip ties and after feeling the tension from the obands, i put the zip ties as extra strength. heres some pics of the packaging and the mount.
