Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The wife purchased me a spot in a power training cycle camp (https://www.jrsmithcoaching.com/), so I purchased a heart rate monitor to go with it :-)

Here is my most recent cycling related purchase...

I Fuji Cross Comp. My new commutering rig. Replaced the slightly knobby tires with a set a Vittorio Cross Randonneurs (32c). Took it out Saturday on a 60 mile group ride.

I moved to the bonnies on 50 acres on a dirt road so when in rome...
Have to admit, riding dirt to cross train and not worrying about going off curbs etc is kinda fun.
Didn't make sense to put my road bike in my car every time I wanted to ride my bike.

Bought these today. Shimano D7850 clinchers. Went in to look at bar tape but could not pass up the deal on these wheels. They are pre owned for two rides. The orgional owner could not hadle them in wind of any kind because of his light wieght.

Getting ready for those chilly CA winters! I'm always cold anyway. Got a thin fleece at the REI and some really good deals at Marshalls! Heavy, coldgear Under Armour shirt for $20! Two pair of socks with merino wool for $8. Still need to find a wind jacket and some wind pants.

These will come in handy now that I've sold my vehicle and will be commuting 100% via bicycle this winter.

(The gloves are excellent BTW, the rear rack and baskets are still on their way here)

Time Alium clipless pedals. Finally going clipless, figured the time in the trainer will help me not fall on the road in the spring.
