Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Assos bibs. Well, fudged it a bit on the type that I ordered, but hopefully will be resolved soon. After trying Castelli bibs and having a good success with them, I'm excited to see what is arguably 'the best' bib out there. Yay for capitalism.

Some 1/8" nylon tubing. I've been working on a carbon frame that has internal cabling and I'm hoping the tubing will help prevent wear to the aluminum "cable guides" where the brake cables enter/exit the frame.

Even stock or marketing pics will do.

Ordered my first pair of Assos as well, the Mille S5 from their outlet site. Arrived quickly and are nicely made. Because it's their long-distance bib, they have a thicker pad which I'm uncertain about... we'll see, I guess.

That is exactly what I ordered, then shot them an e-mail saying I'd like to cancel my order and that I ordered the incorrect bibs.

I'm trying to buy the FI's or their 'racey' bibs. Quite sure I like smaller pads in my bibs. Any idea on whether or not they are responsive to cancellation or if they are just going to ship and say OOPS, sorry?

Really I should order both, get a hands on with them, and then ship back the one that does not fit or that I do not prefer.

I thought Rapha was supposed to be the best. What about MAAP?

They have several models with F1 in their name, including the pair I bought, which is the "Assos T Fi.Mille_s5." My first order, so no experience with their customer service aside from them shipping me what I ordered quickly.

Well, at a certain point what's best is going to vary person to person. Assos has been a top-line brand for a relatively long time.

Rapha strikes me as a marketing monster, although good gear. I think Assos has built more a reputation and less paid for the reputation. I'm not at all putting Rapha down here, I think they're fab stuff tbh. MAAP is just clearly out of my price range and I won't even consider a jersey that's at their asking price.

The FI.13 has been out of production for several years now. They will probably cancel your order, but they're unlikely to ever have more stock of the FI.13 than what they currently show. If they don't have your size, you're probably out of luck.

Wandered out to the garage tonight and found where the resident mouse is nesting... in one of my helmets.
It's my MTB helmet so no big loss.

I'm sure this isn't said very much on this entire forum but you are 100% correct. They did not have my size, and I'm sure will not have it back in stock. Eitherway, I'll grab an UNO instead of the MILLE for the fact that it is cheaper for one, and the pad is slightly smaller in it. People have described the mille as 'diaper-ish' and I hate that ****.

Ribble has very good prices on the newer S7 stuff, the prices shown still include 25% VAT until you put it in your cart and go to check-out, once you select USA the price drops. I picked up a pair of the S7_equipe from there for ~$165. The racing fit is more snug than the FI.13, but still feels good.

DA C35 tubular

$400 from ebay w/ good tires.

1/2 lb less than the other (already light) wheels.

Just the thing for the shop ride that features gusty wind and big climbs.

These show up today , Vittoria Corsa Speed G+. I really like the Corsa Evo CXIII and have high expectations for these replacements. Went with all black or black and anthracite as they call it. The black /tan were sold out soon it must be a popular look.
