Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

edited post; Okay i checked them and your right 7 clicks which would make them an 8 speed. The cassette is a 7 speed. I'm guessing they had the derailleur stops set to prevent it from throwing the chain in the spokes. If it was on a 1992 they may have been mixing parts from the previous generation of DT shifter bikes. I have set of wheels I can use with an 8 speed cassette so maybe I'll use them and save the original wheels which are beautiful.

Serfas Rx Saddle.
I replaced a very old Terry saddle that was too squishy. The new saddle seems to be higher or maybe it is just firmer.

Thanks to the a-hole who hit me on Labor day (and his insurance) I'm replacing my 4 month old CAAD 10 with a 2015 Supersix EVO carbon 105. Should be in this week. Can't wait to get it.

If you liked your Caad10, you'll love the EVO, same handling only smoother in nearly every category. Of course I am a bit biased.

I really liked the CAAD 10. I was just getting really comfortable on it.
I test rode a Supersix EVO Hi Mod that the shop mechanic owns. VERY nice. Looking forward to the new bike.

Sorry you're having problems.
I guess I was "lucky" if thats the right word to use. The guy who hit me has Allstate and I have Allstate. They have been very cooperative. Paid my ER and dr bills and new iPhone. I should get the check for the bike in the next few days.

You're also quite lucky you must not live in a state where the hospital is allowed to put a lien on you for the difference between their bill and what health insurance paid them.

Check the rear hub, if it is a FH-6402 it will take an 8 speed cassette and you can use those wheels.

You will love this bike Ron. I almost bought the Ultegra version to replace my current '13 SuperSix, but I got a much better deal on a 15 Synapse Carbon 3 Ultegra. I got 20% off since it was in stock. If they had the Super in stock, I would be riding that.

For my 2008 Trek Portland:
Shimano 105 5700 Crankset, Front and Rear derailleurs, Cassette, and Chain; Ultegra 6700 bottom bracket; and Bontrager Race Lite stem (to replace the Specialized one the previous damned owner put on this bike). Gonna have these installed this weekend and the bike overhauled (cabling, bearings, grease, yada, yada). She'll be just like new on Monday!!

Some recent Doodads which make me happy - it's the little things
  • Cannondale Pack Me vest - Hi-Vis and stowable for fall.
  • Kool Kovers, because I lost one of my Speedplay covers last month. I like these better than the Speedplay version.
  • KoolStop Dura2s Dual Compound Awesome! Feel (and brake) noticeably better than the stock Ultegra pads, which seem to pick up grit easily and chew up my rims more than I would like. I've never had a problem with KoolStops doing this before.
  • Just about time for a new Ultegra chain.
  • And finally a Road Bike friendly bell from Cateye - Been trying to ride extra lawful and conscientious these days after the recent bad press and "bikelash" cyclists have been getting in NYC. This tiny bell is a HUGE aggravation saver and one of the few I could find that fits 31.8 bars.
