Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

that's why you go to real group rides where people actually go fast to get faster.

Screw off. I spend 10k miles a year on the bike, have consistently good racing seasons, and happen to like nice things. If you want to be judgmental and assume that everyone who likes nice things is just some fred trying to impress people, then that's your MO and I can't change it, but for the love of God, get off your high horse trying to think you are better because you don't buy nice things.

Being judgmental is not a good quality to have.

Who says i don't? Somehow these threads give a totally crap vibe just like the hot or not does. My problem isn't exactly having good things but rather the "if it's not rapha or assos my ass will melt" attitude. Next thread will be "how much did you spend today".

Set of Shimano 540 SPD-SL pedals, and a Selle Italia X2 Wilier saddle - both in white. Trying to finish off my mini-rehab on an older Allez I found on craigslist. N+1.

Dropped some coin on a set of tubeless wheels, Conti tubular tires, SRAM rival shifters, Force 10sp cassette, Rival short cage rear derailleur, and other various bits to upgrade my Raleigh rx 1.0 a bit. Cannot wait to fix it up!

Yes the quality v. value curve is a good one. For me...600$ on a light is a bit overkill....unless it comes with a life time warranty/insurance against defects/crashes/theft no questions asked. But I dont think it does....but if you can afford it more power to you!

Local shop had a 2013 SuperSix 3 Ultegra that was in parts (but new). I picked up the frame/forks, seat post, crank and had my 105 and remaining parts swapped from my CAAD 8. First N+1 and first carbon bike. Looking forward to building up this frame.

Very nice, that's going to be an awesome build and performing bike! Have you used Speedplay pedals before? I've been on the same Dura Ace pedals for over a decade, finally getting to the point where I'm going to have to replace and was considering trying the Speeds.

Some may know my penchant for trying new clothing. Yesterday I took advantage of a 31% off sale at Pactimo to try a set of their Summit Raptor Bibs. Hoping that I will like them as much as my others. Will be replacing some of my castelli's as my go to's

@robbyville yes I've used speedplay the past 15-18k miles, and actually switched to them just to try after talking much negativity to my friends who use them. Turns out, they make me really happy especially with my sidi speedplay soles, which I just bought my second pair of.

This new bike is going to be over the top... Just hoping it gets here soon so I can post it in the recent purchase thread, too!

Thanks so much. I might get them in the Spring. I'm still in my S-Works shoes which are probably the most comfortable I've had but if I go Speedplay I think I'd prefer to get a shoes with the proper interface vs. an adapter at the same time.

Looking forward to the build, I'm not generally a huge Cannondale guy but that bike is striking and I've heard that the ride quality matches.

I went through 4 pairs of s works shoes in both of the recent generations before my switch. The s works are lighter and equally as comfortable but I feel the quality of sidi as well as the better-than-boa enclosure system makes up for it.

I hope that helps a bit.

Just big enough for my light battery, extra virb battery, a tube, 3 levers and 2 patch kits (condensed into a plastic bag). It works for me. I am going to attach a few reflective fabric strips to it for a little more shine and to cover up any discoloration that may happen.

Looks MUCH better in person.

I bought a spare saddle. The model I like had disappeared briefly from store (and internet) stock. When I found it on clearance I jumped.

I am sure if a mishap damaged my saddle and I didn't have another I'd find a suitable saddle somewhere. But it's nice to know that I have a new spare saddle that I have already tested.
