Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In other news I purchased a 2001 Lemond this week. Noticed it at the pawn shop next to the tobacco shop I buy my papers at (hey, don't judge me!) $375 I had to get it!
Oh, I also spent $30 on 50lbs of certified organic chicken feed (Poppa has to keep his girls happy!) ....Because those $8.00/dozen eggs we sell just helped pay for my new Therapist, his name is Greg. Lemond.
This? https://shop.coffeeofgrace.com/coffees/

And sweet deal on the Lemond!

Bought a Mavic XM117 rim and Shimano XT hub, 36 hole. Also bought 45 DT Swiss Competition spokes. Building a touring wheel to take the abuse of my trailer and loaded bags.

@bianchi10, how did you level this saddle?

Put a piece of cardboard or something flat and hard on it, then use a level. I'm just a hair nose down, like 1 deg

Just bought two Clark's branded MTB brake cables for $4 each plus tax. Big spender.

Over the winter I plan to overhaul my MTB with LX shifters and derailleurs and put the old set on my hybrid.

Is it from a reputable seller? There's a lot of Chinese Pina copies floating around. I know Competitive Cyclist was selling legit ones for about that price recently. Assuming its legit and it fits, seems like a solid deal. Keep in mind that all the components will be 10-speed rather than the newer 11-speed stuff. But seems like a solid deal if the sizing works for you.

Yes. All the roasts are just perfection in my book. Maybe not the least expensive but I got hooked up by my fiance. I'm a little obsessed with my coffee (I blame my South American blood).

I'm having difficulty uploading pics but I'll keep trying. My Web is a little slow these days. It's 9 spd Ultegra with Rohlff wheels. I've swapped the water cage bolts to color matched titanium ones (soon to have carbon cages), swapped the aluminum headset spacers and top cap to carbon and I'm working on upgrading to mostly titanium nuts and bolts save for key areas where steel would be the safest choice. It's just a matter of time working 70-80 hours a week, planning wedding next month, dealing with child issues and everything else that pops up - I repped for my friends parts company and I'm using this chance to make a rolling advertisement of sorts for his company along with my farm. I will probably ride this to and from work so I want it to be a dream build because well, I've damn well earned it and it's my own therapy.

Check out Jurgen Beneke's SHELFIE. Super smart idea for bike and helmet storage and best of all he's just a great, great guy. Made in USA and an accomplished racer.

I'm reading along thinking, "How does this guy have anytime for bikes?" Then you finished with that great explanation. No pics necessary, you've got enough on your hands.

PS Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, you lucky guy!

I just recently got into coffee outside of the usual drip machine everyone has. Still waiting on two bags from Black Rifle Coffee Company, heard great things about them. But I'll definitely give coffeebygrace a shot, at this point it's all about expanding horizons!

And I'm still jelly that you scored a lemond for that price!

On topic: Went down to the LBS looking to get some tubes while I'm waiting on the ones from Amazon to come in. Turns out they don't sell 700c tubes. Consoled myself with a new taillight and some chain lube.

New Harvest Coffee out of Providence, RI has a great roast they ironically call Cycledrome. I was impressed. I'd shop your local Whole Foods also, they all have local companies specific to each stores location.

I've had this road ripper out in the universe for years. I've been patiently looking and searching for the right deal. Finally the universe answered. Lesson learned: Closed mouths don't get fed.

For 700c tubes:
Down Cycles, Croton-on-Hudson, NY (Ask for AJ, he's THE man and he ships).
If not there:
Bikers Edge,Bristol, CT
Newington Bicycle, Newington, CT (Not sure if they ship but great guys)
Cambriabike.com
Pricepoint.com
Biketiresdirect.com

Just realized I got a pair of new work gloves last week. Hand slipped removing a pedal and thanked my lucky stars I had leather between my hand and the chainring. Normally I wouldn't mind but I have arthritis in my hands and they're still sore from falling (while playing tag with my puppy)a few weeks ago - i think I irritated an old fracture

Last edited by EastCoastDHer; 07-18-15 at 07:25 PM. Reason: forgot my gloves!!!

That could be even more dangerous than this thread...

My bike purchase: BBG Bashguard for the Yeti. Can't wait to get rid of the outer chainring.

Both are available at Wiggle with very nice discounts.

Wiggle | 3T Integra Ltd Stem | Stems

Wiggle | 3T Aeronova Team Carbon Handlebars | Road Handlebars

I got a little more % off due too my spend this year but those discounts are not to be scoffed at. Go knock yourself out.

Chain Reaction had the aeronova ltd stealth editions on clearance for $320 last week, but only in size 44. I was so tempted, but would prefer a 42. Also, I'm not quite sure how the internal wiring works...do I need to take apart everything and rerun the cables? I looked for an installation video, but couldn't find anything.

Garmin Virb Elite recently came down in price so I picked one up and can use it with my earlier Virb Basic to have front and rear action cameras. I really like that fact that one can be "slaved" to the other and together controlled through my Garmin Edge. Kinda slick.

If I ever encounter zombies or aliens, I'll have it all on "tape"

Had a credit and a discount, so pulled the trigger and bought these Rapha Giro shoes. Been riding with Sidis for years, but liked the weightlessness and fit of these when I tried them on in one of their stores last year. I've had some foot pain and hot foot with the Sidis so I'm trying these to see if they make a difference. And I love the blue color. Be testing them out tomorrow.
