Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A Guru fit. I've been riding road bikes since 1986, and have never had an extensive fit. Tonights ride was the first post fitting. I've never felt better on a bike. Not even close.

Rapha (my favorite place as some of you know) is having a sale and I bought a merino pro team jersey in sky colors for $70 - it's white, with blue and black stripes and is comfy and very lightweight I also got some socks, white arm warmers with a pink stripe (to go with my black/pink shoes ) and a black and white Brevet jersey with matching striped socks for a good friend who has a birthday this month. He's gonna think he's got the best friend ever. Haha

I got the Shimano R087 SPD-SL shoes at Jenson USA. I wear a 13 and got size 48 and they fit great. Probably not the lightest shoes, but it's a significant upgrade over my cheapo Nashbar shoes and for $40, quite the deal.

New saddle

Cable guide

and front triple derailleur

To go on this bike I'm currently putting together from a frame I bought and mostly parts from my KHS utility bike:

It's been running single speed on the 22t granny ring and 12t cog with the RD as a tensioner, since I put it together last Friday night, just to check the fit and until I could get the above parts. So far so good!

11/27 cassette. 25 was not cutting it. Took 2 approaches up this one big hill to the east of my office, didn't even get to the 25 on the new one, even with a sizeable backpack load both ways today. There is one last brutal approach to that hill, will get to that next time.

Nightrider Mako 200 USB Headlight. With later sunrise times coming, I needed a better headlight so I can do some early morning rides. This fit the bill perfectly. 200 lumens and USB charging.
