Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Recently replaced my helmet with a Lazer, and bought several new clothing items as I'm in the middle of a massive weight loss period - 160 lbs so far. 3 pairs of bibs, 2 jerseys, 2 different weight compression shirts, and a rain/windbreaker jacket.

Picked up some really nice Giro thermal shoe covers, got the largest size they make (XL for EU 46-50 according to the tag) but they sure as heck would not fit over my 48 SPD shoes! I modified the shoe heel area and got one to fit, but it was a workout just to get it on!

Just got the maap kit yesterday. Have yet to ride in them. The feel from my hand is that the chamois is a slight bit thicker and has different densities throughout the chamois (or so it feels like). The material of the kit is very similar to Rapha as well. The bibs are a little thicker which I like because it feels more compressive. All sounds great but will have to ride in them before I get all crazy. I'm selling a ton of Rapha gear if you are interested though ;-)

Felt a little weird about buying red shoes at first - but they're beautiful in person, and definitely more of a salmon than a true red.

I just bought a pair of the wire push speedplay compatible sidis, that came in any color, so long as that color was white. Having come from a decade in black shoes, I felt the same way.

I got a new Ridley Fenix Force 22 from Ebay and the seller was Competitive Cyclist. It was a bike somebody bought that was too tall for them. I got it for $1600, $400 off the normal price at Competitive Cycle price. I love the Force 22 group set, shifting is so smooth and climbing is much easier. Now I just make a few hundred tweaks to get my fitting perfect...

Here's a cheap $2 replacement from Walmart/HomeDepot

Remove the cassette and just clean it with this. I used 1pc to clean an entire 11sp cassette.
