Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Standard is 53/39, a 52/36 is semi compact, still better then the 50/34, you will like it a lot but I wouldnt say its standard. also beautiful bike

New SPEEDPLAY ZERO and TI Spindles.

- The thread on the TI Spindle is longer but the main pedal shaft is the same length as the cromo.
- The TI spindle does not have a L/R indicator. I almost made a mistake when I installed it.
- Speedplay [$101.98] + TI Spindle [$30.18] = $132.16

Really nice vintage bike. Makes me miss some of the last steel ones I had (Guerciotti, Zullo, Maza, Lemond). The quill stem seems a bit high. Is that your bar to saddle drop preference?

Recently bought a Cygolite Pro 80 tail light:

https://www.cygolite.com/product/hotshot-pro-80-usb/

It will replace a Serfas TL-60. I just hope it will last a bit longer than the Serfas. The problem was water and other road crud gettng into the USB connector on the bottom. It and the USB connector eventually rusted and lost connection. The cygolite has it in the same place but seems to have a better rubber cover over the USB connector.

I've tried them once or twice now since I originally purchased them and they seem pretty durable. I know because I struggled a bit each time tugging them pretty hard, trying to get them on. If they weren't durable, I'm pretty sure I would have torn them. You might want to check with @caloso . I believe I purchased these on his recommendation or after reading one of his reviews.

I probably used up more of my brake pads in one rainy descent of Meyers Grade than the whole rest of the year.

2015 Giant TCR on closeout. It's the low end model (Advanced 2 with 105) but it's light years ahead of what I was riding before.
Overjoyed. Except the remnants of the east coast blizzard have kept me off it since bringing it home. Using the old bike for the rollers.

Could sure use A good rain shoe cover like this up here In Oregon. I have some Performance low ankle road bike shoe covers that zip up in the back and have A sole that are 10+ years old.Do A good job at keeping my feet dry,but cold feet if I wear A light sock.
Kind of want, but going to do some more research first.

Good review and some comments.
