Had another live and learn moment. My wheels came in (Campagnolo Zondas) and I didn't know wheels came with the skewers. I ordered those separately for an additional $40.
I don't know why I thought cables wouldn't come with the brakes and skewers wouldn't come with the wheels. I was even going to order a lock ring for the cassette separately because I thought it wouldn't come with the cassette in the group set. Guess I'm too used to being nickel-and-dimed for things. I'll see if I can return these and not get wrecked on UK return shipping. If not, I'll see what I can fetch on Ebay. I wouldn't mind keeping the cables, but the skewers are just a waste since I never really take my wheels off much that I would need a back up set.

I picked up 2 pairs of Sugoi bibs (one black, one blue) at the bike shop last week. Then the next day I got a 30% off coupon from Sugoi in my email so I bought another pair (black) online.

Winner! Used them today. They work well. Now I have to get used to just pulling the water bottle out when I want to drink instead of breaking the arundel death grip. I'm interested to see what happens when the weather improves and the mileage goes up. I've had ultralight cages before and they lose their ability to secure bottles after awhile. This design is different so we'll see.

Fizik R3B Cycle Shoes in black and Shimano Dura Ace SPD-SL pedals. Both are scheduled to arrive today. I have an appointment with my LBS tonight to set up my new shoes to bike. Hope to get out this week and enjoy the warm weather rolling in starting today.

Pulled the trigger on this pricey bit of kit. Pearl Izumi P.R.O. shorts. They are quite nice.

^ Why not get bib shorts? My bibs are getting a bit worn so would like to replace them soon. Along the clothing theme, I got a new pair of Perl Izumi knee warmers:
from REI over the weekend. The old Santini ones they replace were getting ratty and the band was half way off on one.

OK. This will probably appall some folks sensibilities. My most recent purchase was a seat post. Nothing fancy cuz I'm not a fancy kind of guy. I ride an old Schwinn middleweight, rusted chrome and all. Anyway, I needed the new seat post cuz my fat butt bent the old post. I didn't seem to have any problem as long as I was just riding on roads. But once I started riding on trails, the post started to give out. Now here's the really appalling part. The only seat post I could find that would fit was just like the old seat post. Well, that was just going to bend again when I would get out in the woods. So, I took a piece of rebar and jammed it into that seat post. That's right. I just cavalierly added about 14 inches of solid steel weight to my bike. That's got to be enough to make some folks faint. But it works and if it slows me down a little bit or makes me work a little harder, I don't really give a damn.
