Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help me spec out a new bike

Currently I ride a Cervelo Soloist Team, which I like, but it's a bit heavy and I want to upgrade.

Here are the parameters:
Price limit: ~5k
Light as possible (16lbs or lighter)
Good climbing bike
Dura Ace components or better

Thanks!

Also, help me pick a frame. I'm size 54. My bike shop has a bunch of frames for sale here:

Can you move your existing components to the new bike? You could get almost any awesome frame/fork combination for under-budget if you did.

I'd just go with a Cervelo R3 sl frame and something like the Reynolds MV32T UL.

What is certain is that 09 Rival is better than Ultegra.

Red is lighter than DA, not as smooth shifting. FD takes more travel to shift, but RD is quicker.

I think Red is better than 7800, not so sure of 7900. Take a bike equipped with it out on the road and try it out; you may or may not like the hoods, shifting action.

my 51 soloist team is easily under 17 lbs and i still have the heavy Wolf CL fork (steel steerer tube)...

i dont think your bike can weigh much more... then again i'm running SRAM Rival which weighs about the same as dura-ace 7800... and williams 19 wheels...

Can we have a build list on your current bike? It might help us figure out what you should keep to transfer, and what you should just get rid of.
