Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$7k for this is excessive. It is a waterford, handbuilt, beautiful craftmanship......but $7000.00

I wish it had traditional frame geometry rather than compact....It just looks wierd to me with a sloping top tube.

Yeah, compact frame looks a little odd but still awesome. I think they used that geometry on the concept bike to save weight but buyers can have any geometry they want.

Yep, that sloping top tube ruins it for me.

Not my cup of tea.

not a fan of red bikes in general but that metallic burgundy red is very nice. The retro grouch in me agrees with the sentiment that the sloping top tube detracts from it. Sloping is ok on carbon with funny shaped tubes and swooshy paint schemes, but not on a plain coloured steel bike.

There is no way that is worth $7k even though it does have 953 tubes and polished lugs. One could buy a couple of custom framesets for that price.

Stunning. In more than one way. The compact geometry doesn't bother me. A polished steel TA crank-set would really set it off and they gotta fix that downtube decal hiding behind the crank. That bugs me. Otherwise...

Yeah, I think I'd rather get the Indyfab 953 bike for half the price.

Pretty, though.

You're paying for the Paramount nostalgia, in a limited edition release.

Simply have Waterford build you essentially the same bike in a lugged steel frame. It won't have the Paramount name, but it will ride the same, be beautiful, and be substantially cheaper.

Besides a lugged 953 with classic geometry left all stainless is prettier, and harkens back to the chromed Paramounts. And to those in the know, having "Waterford" on the frame makes it more a true modern day Paramount, than slapping a decal on it associated with the current "Schwinn" company.

Doesn't do much for me, I am just shocked they are trusting that $7,000 frame with R-SYS wheels. Maybe someone should send them the recall notice.

ML is right. You can get the identical frame, painted, the way you want it from Waterford for $3300. The only difference is it doesn't have Schwin Paramount decals on the side.

This bike is a joke. If they wanted to properly resurrect the (steel) Paramount name, they should have made the frame with traditional geometry and used the 60's style Schwinn graphics. What they're doing is like painting a 1912 Ford neon green and adding garish decals.

Heh. Sure looks like it!

I've always liked Paramounts, and this new one really is nice. But I can't see spending $7K on one, ESPECIALLY a frameset. In fact, I can't see spending $7K on any whole bike. But I'm kind of a tight wad (a little).
